Chapter 6400. Community Homes for Individuals with MentalRetardation |
Section 6400.167. Administration of prescription medications and injections

(a) Prescription medications and injections of a substance not self-administered by individuals shall be administered by one of the following:
(1) A licensed physician, licensed dentist, licensed physicians assistant, registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
(2) A graduate of an approved nursing program functioning under the direct supervision of a professional nurse who is present in the home.
(3) A student nurse of an approved nursing program functioning under the direct supervision of a member of the nursing school faculty who is present in the home.
(4) A staff person who meets the criteria specified in § 6400.168 (relating to medications administration training) for the administration of oral, topical and eye and ear drop prescriptions and insulin injections.
(b) Prescription medications and injections shall be administered according to the directions specified by a licensed physician, certified nurse practitioner or licensed physicians assistant.
