(a) Forced entry into an approved residence should only occur when the probation officer has reason to believe a fugitive is inside or evidence of violations, such as weapons or drugs, may be removed or destroyed if not seized immediately. For example, the officer hears the childs voice inside the home or notes movement, but no one responds to the officers knocking and identification.
(b) Probation officers should enter using only the amount of force necessary.
