[Saturday, September 27, 2008]PennSERVE announces the availability of grant funding for operation of local AmeriCorps programs beginning in August 2009. Eligible applicants are community and faith-based nonprofit organizations, government agencies and institutions of higher education. The grants support the recruitment, training and management of AmeriCorps members who meet local needs in the areas of education, the environment, public safety, homeland security and other critical needs. A cash or in-kind match is required. Complete applications are due by 3 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008.
