    Additional Class of Disproportionate Share Payments to Qualifying Teaching Hospitals

     The purpose of this notice is to announce that the Department of Public Welfare (Department) is providing final notice of funding allocation for Fiscal Year (FY) 2009-2010 for disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments to qualifying teaching hospitals that provide psychiatric services to Medical Assistance (MA) recipients. There is no charge to the current qualifying criteria or methodology for determining eligibility for these payments.

     The Department published notice of its intent to allocate funding for DSH payments to qualifying teaching hospitals that provide psychiatric services to MA recipients at 40 Pa.B. 675 (January 30, 2010). The Department received no public comments during the 30-day public comment period, and will implement the changes described in its notice of intent.

    Fiscal Impact

     The FY 2009-2010 fiscal impact of this grant is $0.500 million ($0.226 million in State funds).
