       On July 23, 1999, the Insurance Department received from Erie Insurance Exchange and Erie Insurance Company a filing for a rate level change for private passenger automobile insurance.

       Erie Insurance Exchange requests an overall 1.6% decrease amounting to -$9,900,000 annually, to be effective January 1, 2000, for new and renewal business. Erie Insurance Company requests an overall 1.4% decease amounting to -$630,000 annually, to be effective January 1, 2000 for new and renewal business.

       Unless formal administrative action is taken prior to September 21, 1999, the subject filing may be deemed approved by operation of law.

       Copies of the filing will be available for public inspection, by appointment, during normal working hours at the Insurance Department's offices in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Erie.

       Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Chuck Romberger, CPCU, Insurance Department, Bureau of Regulation of Rates and Policies, Room 1311, Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120 (e-mail at cromberg@ins.state.pa.us) within 30 days after publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
