Independence Blue Cross; Special Care Application; Form Filing [37 Pa.B. 4602]
[Saturday, August 18, 2007]On July 27, 2007, Independence Blue Cross (IBC) submitted a filing that proposes to modify its Special Care application form and process. Currently, IBC's Special Care application form requires that all applicant children be screened automatically for Pennsylvania's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medical Assistance (MA) eligibility, unless a parent opts out and specifically requests Special Care coverage. In its filing, the IBC proposes to continue to automatically screen all applicant children for CHIP and MA eligibility; however, parents will no longer be offered the election to opt out of the process. Accordingly, only those children ineligible for CHIP or MA would be enrolled in Special Care.
A copy of the filing is available on the Insurance Department's (Department) website at www.ins.state. pa.us. Under the Quick Links section, click on the link ''Rate Filings Published in the PA Bulletin.'' Copies of this filing are also available for public inspection during normal working hours, by appointment, at the Insurance Department's offices in Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Richard Stoner, Accident and Health Bureau, 1311 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120, within 30 days after publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
