Continuance of Pennsylvania Potato Research Program

    [26 Pa.B. 2714]

Under the applicable provisions of the Pennsylvania Agricultural Commodities Marketing Act of 1968, as amended, a referendum was held from April 15 to April 30, 1996, to determine if the producers affected by the Pennsylvania Potato Research Program desired to have the Program continue for another 5 years. In order to pass, a majority of eligible producers voting had to vote in favor of the Program continuing. An impartial Teller Committee met on May 6, 1996, to count the ballots. The following results were submitted by the Teller Committee: a total of 116 eligible votes were cast, with 88 or 76% voting in favor and 28 or 24% voting against the program continuing. There were two spoiled or ineligible ballots.

Because a majority of the votes were cast in favor of the Program, the Pennsylvania Potato Research Program shall continue for another 5 years.
