DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES Proposed Exchange of Property [45 Pa.B. 2732]
[Saturday, June 6, 2015]The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), acting through the Bureau of Forestry, and the Game Commission are proposing to negotiate an exchange of property interests in Benezette Township, Elk County.
The Game Commission proposes to convey 291.43 acres of State Game Lands 311 along the north and south sides of Gray Hill Road just west of Benezette. In return, the Bureau of Forestry proposes to convey 291.43 acres of Elk State Forest that is adjacent to State Game Lands 311 and near the Thunder Mountain Equestrian Trail just north of Benezette. An environmental review was conducted by the Bureau of Forestry regarding the exchange and the review was approved by the State Forester.
As is the policy of the Department, the public is hereby notified of this exchange. A 30-day period for public inquiry or comment, or both, will be in effect beginning June 6, 2015, and ending July 5, 2015. Oral or written comments will become part of the official document used in the final decision process. Written documents are also available regarding the proposed land exchange by request.
If, in the duration of the 30-day comment period, a significant amount of public concern develops, the Secretary of the Department may schedule a public informational meeting.
