The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation has approved the: ''Youghiogheny River Conservation Plan'' (prepared for the river segment from Connellsville to the confluence with the Monongahela River at McKeesport) and is placing this segment of the Youghiogheny River, and the portion of its tributaries studied in the plan, on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry (Registry).

On June 3, 1998, the Regional Trail Corporation submitted the Youghiogheny River Conservation Plan and other required information to gain Registry status.

After review of the Plan and the other information, the DCNR has determined that PA Rivers Conservation Program requirements have been satisfied and places the following on the Registry:

       *  A segment of the Youghiogheny River extending from Connellsville to its confluence with the Monongahela River, at McKeesport:

       *  A corridor extending from 1 mile east from the river's east bank to 1 mile west of its west bank.

       *  The portion of all tributary streams within the river corridor.

This action becomes effective June 27, 1998. Projects identified in the Youghiogheny River Plan become eligible for implementation, development or acquisition grant funding through the PA Rivers Conservation Program.

A copy of the Final Plan is available for review at:
