Capital Blue Cross and Pennsylvania Blue Shield Community-Rated Group Major Medical Program Rate Increase; Filing No. 00-D

   Capital Blue Cross and Pennsylvania Blue Shield propose to increase the rates for the Community-Rated Group Major Medical Program. The proposed increase is 19.15%. This rate change will produce an estimated additional annual income of $9.3 million and will affect approximately 43,600 contractholders. This filing also proposes a reduction in the optional prescription drug coverage having higher subscriber's coinsurance and copayment amounts. An effective date of October 1, 2000, is requested.

   Copies of the filing are available for public inspection during normal working hours by appointment at the Insurance Department's office in Harrisburg.

   Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Bharat Patel, Actuary, Insurance Department, Accident and Health Bureau, Office of Rate and Policy Regulation, 1311 StrawberrySquare, Harrisburg, PA 17120, within 30 days of publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
