842 Application of International Institute for Restor-ative Practices for approval of amendment and restatement of its articles of incorporation with change to degree-granting status
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Application of the International Institute for Restorative Practices for Approval of Amendment and Restatement of its Articles of Incorporation with Change to Degree-Granting Status [36 Pa.B. 2295] Opportunity for Hearing and Invitation to Protest Under 24 Pa.C.S. § 6504(a) (relating to fundamental changes), the Department of Education (Department) will consider the application of the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP), based in Bethlehem, PA to have a Certificate of Authority approving its amended and restated Articles of Incorporation. Approval of that amendment and restatement would include approval of a change of status to a graduate degree-granting institute with authority to offer two master's programs and power to confer two master's degrees in the new, emerging field of Restorative Practices. The offerings would be a program in Restorative Practices and Education leading to a Master of Restorative Practices and Education (MRPE) degree and a program in Restorative Practices and Youth Counseling leading to a Master of Restorative Practices and Youth Counseling (MRPYC) degree. Additionally, the organization wishes approval to use the fictitious name IIRP Graduate School.
In accordance with 24 Pa.C.S. § 6503(e) (relating to certification of institutions), the Department will act upon the application without hearing, unless within 30 days after the publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin a written request for public hearing is filed with the Department, along with a notice of intervention, a petition to intervene or protest in accordance with 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.23 and 35.24 (relating to protest) or 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.27--35.32 (relating to intervention).
Petitions to intervene, protest and request for hearing shall be filed with Carol Gisselquist, Higher Education Specialist, 333 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333, (717-787-4448) on or before 4 p.m. on the due date prescribed by this notice. Persons wishing to review the application should phone or write to the aforementioned office to schedule a time for an in-office review. Duplicate copies of the application are not available.
