Application of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for Exception to 28 Pa. Code §§ 551.22(1) and (2), 553.3, 553.4, 553.31, 555.3, 555.4, 567.3(b) and 567.32 [30 Pa.B. 2171] Under 28 Pa. Code § 51.33 (relating to requests for exceptions), the Department of Health (Department) gives notice that Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh has requested an exception to the requirements of 28 Pa. Code § 551.22(1) which requires a child under 6 months of age may not be treated in an ambulatory surgery facility; § 551.22(2) which requires that the medical record shall include documentation that the child's primary care provider was notified by the surgeon in advance of the performance of a procedure in an ambulatory surgery center and that an opinion was sought from the primary care provider regarding the appropriateness of the use of the facility for the proposed procedure; § 553.3, § 553.4 and § 553.31, which explains governing body responsibilities, other functions of the governing body (that is, meeting frequency, and the like), and administrative responsibilities; § 555.3 and § 555.4, which defines medical staff, medical staff requirements and membership and clinical activities and duties of physician assistants and certified registered nurse practitioners; § 567.3(b) which deals with environmental services, infection control and current written policies and procedures to assure definite and valid infection control; and § 567.32, which deals with housekeeping policies and procedures.
