       The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation, has approved the Tookany Creek Watershed Management Plan (Plan) and is placing the portion of the Tookany Creek Watershed studied in the Plan in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry (Registry).

       Cheltenham Township submitted the Plan and other required information to gain Registry status.

       After review of the Plan and other information, the Department has determined that the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Program (Program) requirements have been satisfied and is placing the following on the Registry:

       1.  A portion of the Tookany Creek Watershed located within the municipal boundaries of Abington and Cheltenham Townships and Jenkintown and Rockledge Boroughs, Montgomery County--16.2 square miles.

       2.  All tributary streams within the Tookany Creek Watershed area, except the Burholme Creek Watershed, that are located within the municipal boundaries of Abington and Cheltenham Townships and Jenkintown and Rockledge Boroughs, Montgomery County.

       3.  The watershed area of Burholme Creek Watershed located within the municipal boundaries of Abington and Cheltenham Townships, Montgomery County and the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County.

       This action becomes effective April 17, 2004. Projects identified in the Plan become eligible for implementation, development or acquisition grant funding through the Program.

       Maps and supporting data are on file at the Cheltenham Township Administration Building.
