Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711The Department of Environmental Protection (Department) has convened regional focus groups across this Commonwealth to assist the Department and a Statewide oversight committee in reviewing and developing a Pennsylvania Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual (manual). The manual will support the implementation of Federal and State water quality programs, emphasizing innovative best management practices that encourage onsite stormwater management and increased groundwater infiltration as a means to minimize stormwater discharges and limit the amount of surface pollutants entering streams in this Commonwealth. Members of the regional focus groups were asked to review the manual for its applicability, develop comments and provide recommendations to the Department. The input provided by the regional focus groups will ensure that the contents of the manual, including recommended approaches, methodologies and best management practices are regionally sensitive and applicable.
The March 15, 2005, meeting, as well as other scheduled regional focus group meetings (see 35 Pa.B. 1392 (February 19, 2005)) are open to the public.
