Mandated Benefits [30 Pa.B. 1220] Section 9 of Act 34 of 1993 requires that the Health Care Cost Containment Council (Council) review existing or proposed mandated health benefits on request of the executive and legislative branches of government. The Council has been requested by Representative Nicholas A. Micozzie, Chairperson of the House Insurance Committee, to review House Bill 1832, Printers Number 2249 (Nailor). House Bill 1832 would require health insurance policies to provide coverage for treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction and surgery, if medically necessary, for deformities of the maxilla or mandible.
Initial notification of request for information and documentation was published at 29 Pa.B. 6291 (December 11, 1999), with documentation due to the Council by February 11, 2000.
