    [30 Pa.B. 960]

Pursuant to the provisions of 71 P. S. Section 2002(b), The Secretary of Transportation makes the following written finding:

The Department of Transportation plans to replace the bridge, which carries S.R. 4024 over Huntington Creek, with a twin-cell pre-cast box culvert on a new alignment. Bridge approach and shoulder work will also be included. The total length of the improvements will be approximately 274.32 meters (900 Feet). The subject project is located in Ross Township, Luzerne County.

The proposed project will include demolition of the existing pony truss bridge, which has been determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and, therefore, qualifies for protection under Act 120, Section 2002.

Mitigation measures to be taken to minimize harm to the Section 2002 resource will include recordation of the bridge and publication of a public history brochure addressing the history of the bridge as stipulated in the executed Memorandum of Agreement.

The environmental, economic, social, and other effects of the proposed project as enumerated in Section 2002 of the Administrative Code, have been considered. It has been concluded that there is no feasible and prudent alternative to the project as designed and all reasonable steps have been taken to minimize such effects.

No adverse environmental effect is likely to result from the project.

    BRADLEY L. MALLORY,
    Secretary
