INSURANCE DEPARTMENT Application and Request for Approval of a Plan of Consolidation [26 Pa.B. 638] Medical Service Association of Pennsylvania d/b/a Pennsylvania Blue Shield (Blue Shield) and Veritus Inc. d/b/a Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania (Blue Cross) have submitted a plan to the Insurance Department proposing to consolidate Blue Shield and Blue Cross into a new corporation.
All the lines of business and business interests, including subsidiaries, of Blue Shield and Blue Cross, including the professional health service plan currently operated by Blue Shield and the hospital plan currently operated by Blue Cross, will be transferred, directly or indirectly, to the Consolidated Corporation. The Consolidated Corporation will continue to operate all of the lines of business and business interests, including subsidiaries, of Blue Shield and Blue Cross.

Interested persons are invited to submit written comments regarding the request to the Insurance Department, Carolyn Smith, Licensing Specialist, 1345 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120, within 30 days of the publication date of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
