[Saturday, December 28, 2013]Section 3(e) of the Public Official Compensation Act, the act of September 30, 1983 (P. L. 160, No. 39) as amended by section 2 of the act of October 19, 1995 (P. L. 324, No. 51) mandates that the salaries of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Treasurer, Auditor General, Attorney General, and the heads of the departments and members of boards and commissions shall be increased by applying the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) for the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland area for the most recent 12-month period for which figures have been officially reported by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) immediately prior to the date adjustment is due to take effect.
As required by section 3(e) of the Public Official Compensation Law, the Governor has determined, based on the change in the CPI-U (PA-DE-NJ-MD) over the past 12 months as reported by BLS on November 20, 2013, that the salaries covered by that law shall be increased by 0.3% effective January 1, 2014. The following chart sets out the agency head position, the salary prior to the adjustment, the percentage amount of the adjustment, and the new salary:
