    Application for Approval to Merge with Harleysville Mutual Insurance Company

     Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, an Ohio domiciled mutual casualty insurance company, has submitted a plan of merger, whereby it proposes to merge with Harleysville Mutual Insurance Company, a Pennsylvania domiciled mutual casualty insurance company. The survivor of the merger would be Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. The filing was made under the requirements set forth under 15 Pa.C.S. §§ 1921—1932 (relating to merger, consolidation, share exchanges and sale of assets); sections 205—207 of the GAA Amendments Act of 1990 (15 P. S. §§ 21205—21207); and section 1402 of The Insurance Company Act of 1921 (40 P. S. § 991.1402).

     Persons wishing to comment on the grounds of public or private interest in this merger are invited to submit a written statement to the Insurance Department (Department) on or before January 20, 2012. Each written statement must include name, address and telephone number of the author; identification of the application to which the statement is addressed; and a concise statement with sufficient detail to inform the Department of the exact basis of the statement and the relevant facts upon which it is based.
