  • Cost-of-Living Factor under the Public Official Compensation Law

       Under section 4(d) of the Public Official Compensation Law (65 P. S. § 366.4(d), for the 12-month period beginning December 1, 2000, through November 30, 2001, the salary of the members of the General Assembly shall be increased by a cost-of-living factor which is determined by increasing the amount of the salary by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U) for the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland area, officially reported by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics for the period of November 1, 1999, through October 31, 2000.

       The percentage increase and the new salary amount have been determined jointly by the Chief Clerk of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives as follows:

       CPI-U for November 1, 1999, through October 31, 2000, cumulative percentage change--2.0069%.

       New salary amount--$61,889.71.

       Under section 4(d.1) of the Public Official Compensation Law (65 P. S. § 366.4(d)), for the 12-month period beginning December 1, 2000, through November 30, 2001, the additional compensation of the officers and leaders of the General Assembly shall be increased by a cost-of-living factor which is determined by increasing the amount of the salary by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U) for the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland area, officially reported by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics for the period from November 1, 1999, through October 31, 2000.

       The percentage increase and the new compensation amounts have been determined jointly by the Chief Clerk of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives as follows:
