The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation has approved the ''Schuylkill Watershed Conservation Management Plan'' (Plan) and is placing the Schuylkill River, the watershed and all tributaries covered in the Plan in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery and Schuylkill Counties, on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry (Registry).

The Natural Lands Trust on behalf of The Conservation Fund submitted the Plan and other required information to gain Registry status.

After review of the Plan and other information, DCNR has determined that the Keystone Rivers Conservation Program requirements have been satisfied and places the following on the Registry:

       1.  The watershed area of the Schuylkill River from the headwaters in Schuylkill County to its confluence with the Delaware River in the City of Philadelphia--1,916 square miles.

       2.  All tributary streams within the Schuylkill River Watershed.

This action becomes effective November 17, 2001. Projects identified in the Plan become eligible for implementation, development or acquisition grant funding through the Keystone Rivers Conservation Program.

A copy of the Final Plan is available for review at Natural Lands Trust, Hildacy Farm, 1031 Palmers Mill Road, Media, PA 19063, (610) 353-5587; and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market Street, 6th Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17101, (717) 787-2316.
