    [Saturday, October 12, 2013]

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation (Bureau) has approved the Delaware Direct Watershed River Conservation Plan (Plan) and is placing the Delaware River Watershed (Philadelphia) covered in the Plan on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry (Registry).

The Philadelphia Water Department submitted the Plan and other required information to gain Registry status.

After review of the Plan and other information, the Department has determined that the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Program (Program) requirements have been satisfied and places the following on the Registry:

     • The watershed area of the Delaware River, within the city limits of Philadelphia (Philadelphia County) that flows directly into the Delaware River, from its headwaters to its confluence with the Delaware River—35 square miles.

This action becomes effective October 12, 2013. Projects submitted to the Bureau, which are identified as part of the Plan, become eligible for implementation, development or acquisition grant funding through the Program.

A copy of the Final Plan is available for review at the Philadelphia Water Department web site at www.phillywatersheds.org/your_watershed/delaware/delaware_RCP and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market Street, 5th Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17101, (717) 783-2712.
