[Saturday, January 16, 2010]On November 13, 2009, Norfolk Southern Railway Company (Norfolk Southern) filed a Petition for Rescission of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission's (Commission) June 12, 1975 Order regarding prevention of run outs in the 400 and 500 classification yards of Conway Yard in Beaver County, PA. In its Petition, Norfolk Southern requests that the Commission rescind or amend its June 12, 1975 Order, Doc. No. 19560, to eliminate the requirement that Norfolk Southern use skates to prevent run outs, and allow Norfolk Southern to reassign the skatemen to other positions. Alternatively, Norfolk Southern requests that the Commission amend the June 12, 1975 Order to permit the placement and removal of skates by pull-out crews and other Norfolk Southern personnel, and allow Norfolk Southern to reassign the skatemen to other positions.
