  • Revisions to Schedule of Prices for State Parks

    [43 Pa.B. 226]
    [Saturday, January 12, 2013]

    A. Summary and Background

Under section 314 of the Conservation and Natural Resources Act (71 P. S. § 1340.314) and 17 Pa. Code § 11.224 (relating to prices), the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), Bureau of State Parks (Bureau), is revising its price schedule for State Park activities, uses and privileges. The new schedule, which is in Section D, includes price increases for Commonwealth residents and non-Commonwealth residents for certain camping add-on fees, meeting rooms and specialized facilities, organized group tenting facilities, shower fees, backpacking/river camping, equestrian camping, camper unit storage, dump station fees, transient overnight RV camping, whitewater boating, astronomy observatory, swimming pools and the Hufman Lodge at Laurel Hill State Park.

The new price schedule, which is comparable to those of state parks in neighboring states, is needed to increase revenue to the Bureau. In addition to offsetting inflation, it narrows the gap between State Parks and private facilities, resulting in a more favorable competitive climate for the private sector.

The new price schedule revises the definition of a family for a Family Season Pool Pass and entrance fees for children less than 42 inches at State Park Pools with slides.

For comparison purposes, the current price schedule along with the new price schedule can be found at the State Parks web site at http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/prices/index.htm. It can also be obtained by calling Pennsylvania State Parks Reservations and Information at (888) PA-PARKS. When the new price schedule becomes effective, it will be posted on the previously listed State Parks web site.

    B. Contact Person

Questions may be directed to David Sariano, Assistant Director, Bureau of State Parks, Rachel Carson State Office Building, P. O. C. Effective Date

The effective date of the new price schedule is January 31, 2013. Therefore, it will apply to swimming pools, whitewater boating in the 2013 season. For campsites, it will apply to reservations made for the 2014 season.
